We all need a makeover. For this, there's nothing like a good scrub. We often tend to downplay its importance, however, it is one of the essential actions to maintain beautiful, clear and fresh skin. A true rejuvenating treatment, it purifies the surface of the epidermis and stimulates cell renewal.
Why exfoliate?
The purpose of exfoliation is to remove dead cells accumulated on the surface of the skin. It removes the impurities that we face on a daily basis, such as dust or pollution present in the air. It is particularly effective in treating excess sebum and cleansing the skin, which thus regains more suppleness and radiance. Finally, exfoliation stimulates blood circulation, which increases the effectiveness and absorption of care products. Exfoliation is particularly recommended to overcome acne. Without overusing it, it helps cleanse oily skin and limit the appearance of pimples and mycrocysts.
How to make a scrub?
Place a small amount of exfoliant in your hand and apply it to clean, damp skin. Make light circular movements from the inside to the outside of the face, taking care to avoid the eye area. Focus on the T zone, particularly prone to imperfections and shine. Then rinse with lukewarm water. After each exfoliation, don't forget to apply your moisturizer to restore the protective film of the epidermis. If you want to take the opportunity to make a mask, always do this AFTER your exfoliation.
Some use a loofa sponge or a kessa glove to exfoliate their skin. But beware ! These are not suitable for facial exfoliation. We reserve them for the body. Stick to your ten fingers or opt instead for a konjac sponge, known as a gentle cleansing product for cleaning the epidermis.
When to exfoliate?
It all depends on your skin type. Normal skin needs at least one exfoliation per week. More sensitive, dry skin will tolerate being exfoliated every two weeks. Finally, combination or oily skin requires exfoliation per week. Beyond that, there is a risk of causing a rebound effect with an overproduction of sebum.
Of course, the frequency of exfoliation also depends on the season. In winter, when our skin is dehydrated, we avoid irritating it further. The best thing is to look at our face: enlarged pores, lack of radiance... Certain factors are unmistakable.
